The first time Josh and I went to Wanaka, it felt like we were in a movie. It was just so…perfect.
A pristine freshwater lake bordered by breathtaking snowcapped mountains, surrounded by lush greenery. Beautiful, friendly people welcoming you with a smile in every store. No rubbish…anywhere. And the food. Don’t even get me started on the food. It all felt too good to be true.
To make sure it wasn’t just the honeymoon phase clouding our judgement, we returned a year later and brought a couple of kids with us. Would it still feel just as magical?
While the experience was certainly different, it felt even more special.
I’ve always loved a travel guide. Whether it’s to live vicariously through someone else, or to make a list of must-see places for an upcoming visit - it gives me a form of escapism. (Even if I am reading it at work while I’m meant to be doing 1579 other tasks)
I hope today offers that for you. And if you’ve been thinking about visiting Wanaka, let this be the nudge you needed to book that flight. It’s a special place right on our Aussie doorstep. I think you’ll love it just as much as we do ❤️
