Years ago, I believed—wholeheartedly—that if I could just make the people in my life happy, then I would be happy too.
It sounds lovely, doesn’t it? If not a little naïve.
That kind of thinking—while nice—led me to constantly put myself last, sacrifice my own needs, and push my dreams to the back-burner. I genuinely believed that other people’s wants were more worthy than mine. I thought being the ever-supportive cheerleader would be enough.
Wasn’t that what we were taught? That to be kind and good meant going without?
