If you follow me on Instagram you'll be relieved to know that I'm back from Bali!

You will no longer be subjected to poolside selfies.

The absolute indulgence of waking up with no agenda, except to please ourselves was pure bliss. We quickly fell into a routine that looked a little something like this: sleep in - gym - breakfast - pool - lunch (smoothie bowl) - explore - pool - cocktails - dinner - bed.

As you can imagine it was a tough week, but we persisted. I loved every second of it :)

I hope you found some pockets of joy throughout your own week too? What was your highlight?

Today, I bring you Issue #67 of The List, and in it I'm sharing:

  • A quote about deserving all the good things

  • A popular book that actually underwhelmed me

  • My new sneakers!!

  • And an easy, healthy-ish pasta bake to feed a crowd (the best comfort food)

Have the happiest Friday!

“You deserve all of the good things"

Since I was a kid, I’ve found it difficult to accept good things happening to me. I can distinctly remember the first time one of my BIG goals came true.

I was 13 years old and had dreamed of making the State Schoolgirls Netball team. I was “bottom age”, which means I was a year younger than most kids and my chances weren't great. I was determined, dedicated and trained hard for months, and to my astonishment - I made the team.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, at our final training session before the tournament I was named captain! I was the youngest player in the team. I couldn’t have been more overjoyed…or so you would have thought.

That night I arrived home and felt…bad. I couldn’t understand why I got to have so many wonderful things happen to me. Why did I get so many blessings when others didn’t? It didn’t feel right. This began a pattern of whenever good things would happen to me, I’d feel guilty about it (yeah, I’m catholic lol)

In recent years, I’ve really worked on feeling grateful rather than guilty. I am in constant awe of the blessings in my life and I now know it’s ok to enjoy that. Plus, I’ve had my fair share of hard things too.

So now when I get spoilt by my boyfriend, or I get an amazing career opportunity, or I get a beautiful message from a reader, I don’t question WHY. I just say thank you, soak in the good feelings and know that I, like everyone, deserve all of the good things :)
